Hallock State Park Preserve offers a total of 225 acres. Hallock State Park Preserve is a shorefront park preserve that offers nearly one mile of pristine beachfront on the North Shore of Long Island along the Long Island Sound.
Hiking, nature walks, and bird watching are available. Development of the remainder of the preserve is in the planning stages and may include formal trails, environmental education, and activities appropriate for a park preserve.
Trail Guide
Print and fold to create a guide for an individual or family walk at Hallock State Preserve. If you cannot print 2-sided, the two sheets can be printed and stabled together, back-to-back, before folding. The markers follow the Yellow Trail, which starts in the northwest corner of the upper parking lot. A park map is also available on this site.

Arbor Day Tree ID Walk

Hallock State Park Preserve
In "honor of trees" and Arbor
Day, meet at the Visitor Center for the first part of the program handling
samples of wood and learn what that wood was used for. Then we drive to the
upper lot where we will walk the trails learning how to identify trees using
buds, early leaves, flowers, seeds and bark. Led by State Park naturalist Mary
Laura Lamont. Meet at the Visitor
Center.

weekly walk and discussion with members of the Atlantic Marine Conservation
Society and park staff monitors for wildlife along the Park Preserve's Long
Island Sound beachfront. Dress for the
weather and bring gloves. Trash pickers and buckets will be provided, to help
remove debris that can harm sea life. Meet at Visitor
Center.

anniversary open house celebration at Hallock State Park Preserve, sponsored by
the Parks and Trails New York. Ongoing programs,
provided by the Atlantic Marine Conservation Society, representatives of the
Shinnecock Nation and State Parks staff will include: 10:00 a.m. -Noon Volunteer Beach
Cleanup activity, 10:30 a.m.-11:30 a.m. Trail Walk - Local Indigenous Peoples Relationship
with Nature Walk, Noon-1:00 p.m. Indigenous Peoples
Collective Prayer for whales and marine life, 1:00 p.m.-2:30 p.m. Volunteer tree
planting activity, 1:00 p.m. -2:30 p.m. Volunteer
Beach Clean activity, 2:00 p.m. - 3:00 p.m. Nature/Trail
walk with our State Park Naturalist focusing on how the Park Preserve is

breeding grounds is now! This 3-mile bird walk along trails of the Preserve
