Geocache Challenge 2017

Oquaga Creek State Park is just 3 hours from New York City and New Jersey, which makes its beach facilities and forested campsites the perfect summer escape. The 55-acre Arctic Lake has a sand beach for swimmers, and anglers can fish for black bass, bullheads and rainbow trout. The rolling, wooded hills are ideal for winter sledding. Winter visitors can also ice fish on the frozen lake and snowshoers and cross-country skiers can explore ten miles of trails. If you like to camp, 90 non-electric sites are available. If you don't want to bother to pack a tent and equipment, you may be interested in the Full Service Accommodation. This cottage provides 2 bedrooms, a kitchen with a refrigerator, stove, cooking utensils dishes and silverware and more.

The newly redecorated two story cottage offers a kitchen, living room with fire wood stove, one and a half baths, master bedroom with a Queen bed, second upstairs bedroom with three double beds, gas and electric heat, stove with oven, refrigerator, furniture, pillows, cooking utensils, dishes, glassware, and silverware. Linens are not supplied. For outdoor meals and campfires, a picnic table and gas grill are provided. 

Oquaga Creek offers "rustic" cabins. These cabins are the perfect in-between for campers who like tents and cabins. Offering protection from the elements, they sleep six, but have no electricity or water. Two night minimum stay required for reservations. Reservation and out-of-state resident fees also apply.

Seasonal Camping Now Available: A limited number of campsites have been made available at the facility for seasonal camping. Patrons who are interested will need contact the park directly to make their reservations. Seasonal campsites do not include electricity, water or sewer services. No additional discounts, including the Access Pass, will be accepted for seasonal camping. For more information or to make reservations, contact Oquaga Creek State Park at 607-467-4160.

Hours of Operation

  • The park is open year round, seven days a week, dawn to dusk.

    Park Office Hours:  Generally 8 am to 9 pm daily during camping season, but please call ahead.
  • 2017 Beach/Swimming Season:
    5/27/17 - 6/18/17 weekends and holidays only, 11 a.m. - 7 p.m.
    6/19/17 - 9/4/17, daily, 11 a.m. - 7 p.m.

  • Boat Rentals:
    5/27/17 - 6/18/17, weekends & holidays, 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.
    6/19/17 - 9/4/17, daily, 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. 

    *Please note that launching is available a short distance from the parking area for personal non-motorized boats.

Fees & Rates

Most New York State Parks charge a vehicle use fee to enter the facility. Fees vary by location and season. A list of entry fees and other park use fees is available below. For fees not listed or to verify information, please contact the park directly.

The Empire Pass -- whether a card for $80 or a vehicle-affixed decal for $65 -- is your key to all-season enjoyment with unlimited day-use entry at most facilities operated by State Parks and the State Dept. of Environmental Conservation including forests, beaches, trails and more.
