Geocache Challenge 2018

Chenango Valley State Park is an ice age wonder. Its two kettle lakes, Lily and Chenango, were created when the last glacier retreated and left behind huge chunks of buried ice which melted to form the lakes and bog. Birdwatchers may glimpse woodpeckers, nut hatches, warblers and thrushes along woodland trails and herons, ducks and kingfishers lakeside. Fishermen will find trout, bass, perch and bullhead in Chenango Lake. Campers can choose from among 184 campsites and 24 cabins and golfers will appreciate the 18-hole Chenango Valley State Park Golf Course (pro shop can be reached by calling: 607-648-9700). Sledding and cross-country ski trails attract visitors in winter.

Current Water Quality - Beach Results.

Household pets only, caged or on a leash not more than 6 feet. Not allowed in bathing areas. Only two pets allowed per camping site.

Introduction To Kayak Fishing: 11am - 12pm at the Beach area boat house. Unlimited fishing potential. Minimum start up investment. Outstanding exercise benefits. Solitude on a beautiful New York lake, self-reliance, and a good workout come at no extra charge. A kayak’s stealth and it’s ability to launch virtually anywhere are the appeal. If you think using kayaks for fishing might be something you’d be interested in doing, this seminar is for you! We will cover basic fishing gear for your boat, up to more sophisticated equipment. A sit-on-top and a sit-inside kayak will be available for you to try.

Introduction To Kayaking: 12pm - 1pm at the Beach area boat house. Take a break from the hustle and bustle of life and retreat to our relaxing and peaceful lake. Learn the basics of kayaking - safe entry, paddle strokes, and safe exit. This is a short program emphasizing safety, enjoyment, and skill-acquisition for ages 12-and-up, in recreational kayaks. A limited number of kayaks will be available for paddling and will be limited to a specific area and set time in order to give everyone interested an opportunity to get outdoors and play!

Hike Led by Danielle Schimitt: Details to be announced soon!

Mountain Biking: Skills/ability clinic, educational outdoor recreation worksop, biker safety and maintenance clinics! More details to be announced soon.
