Ordering a Lifetime Liberty Pass

If you email your application to LifetimeLibertyPass@parks.ny.gov, you will receive a standard reply within a few minutes of sending it. If you mail your application, you will hear a reply within 2-4 weeks.

In order to make sure only qualified individuals are issued a Lifetime Liberty Pass, we must request documentation listed in your order summary email. Physical documentation is retained for a period of five years at the NY State Archives, and then destroyed.

You can obtain the Veteran status designation from the NY State Department of Motor Vehicles. Please visit the NY State DMV's website for more information.

Orders can be cancelled for various reasons. If your order was placed and you did not submit the required supporting documentation, or you do not qualify, you will be notified via e-mail.

To order a Lifetime Liberty Pass, you must visit shop.parks.ny.gov and select the Lifetime Liberty Pass product. After submitting your order, you will receive an email with instructions on where and how to submit the required documentation so that we can review your order. Simply submitting your supporting documentation without placing an order will result in your order not being processed.

No, your free Lifetime Liberty Pass order must placed at shop.parks.ny.gov. Once you place your order, please follow the instructions in your order summary email to determine what supporting documentation you will need to submit.

Your order summary email has additional instructions to verify your character of service or Gold Star Family Status. Please find your order summary email and follow the instructions there.

General Questions

The military ID card will not show the character of service when discharged, or residency status. The information found on your NY State Driver License or Non-Driver ID is the only way to verify your residency.

Your NY State Driver License or Non-Driver ID will only be accepted at locations where staff are present. To use the automated self-serve pay stations, present your Lifetime Liberty Pass. If you do not yet have one, please visit the nearest Park Office to receive a one-time-use no-fee parking pass.

Your NY State Driver License or Non-Driver ID can be used at staffed facilities, campgrounds and participating golf courses. If you go to an unstaffed location, you will have to go to the park office for a no-fee ticket, or order a Lifetime Liberty Pass ahead of your visit. All Gold Star Parents, Spouses, and Siblings must place a free order for a Lifetime Liberty Pass at shop.parks.ny.gov.

At facilities operated by the NY State Office of Parks, Recreation & Historic Preservation, a Lifetime Liberty Pass includes free entrance to state parks, historic sites, and arboretums; greens fees; swimming; tennis; and cross-country skiing.

At facilities operated by the NY State Office of Parks, Recreation & Historic Preservation, an Lifetime Liberty Pass includes discounted: campsite and cabin rental, and transient marina dockage except when the slip is rented at the same time as the campsite or cabin in that facility.

If many of your visits will be at unstaffed locations, place a free order for a Lifetime Liberty Pass at shop.parks.ny.gov and follow the directions there.

The Lifetime Liberty Pass may be used for free entry and discounted camping at all developed DEC-operated Campgrounds and Day Use Areas.

Replacement Lifetime Liberty Pass

Using a Lifetime Liberty Pass

Yes! NY State Parks employees may request to verify you are the pass holder. Your NY State DMV issued ID card is the only way for New State Parks staff to verify this information.
