Rockefeller State Park Preserve
This challenging and beautiful course begins and ends at the Rockwood Hall section of the park, overlooking the Hudson River and the Palisades. Both the half marathon and full marathon are single loop courses on wide groomed carriage roads, visiting all the signature aspects of the Preserve with a ton of scenic views. The course traverses rolling hills past meadows, stone walls and bridges, grazing livestock, rivers, forests, and lakes. No pavement and no cars on the course!

Native Life in the Hudson Valley: Lenape Technologies

Rockefeller State Park Preserve
Get a glimpse into the life of indigenous people who have lived along the Hudson River Valley as far back as 12,000 years ago. Barry Keegan will provide hands-on experience making twine from local plants and will demonstrate Lenape technologies such as flintknapping of stone tools, making animal glue, and using a mortar and pestle for grinding grains and nuts. A display and discussion of other artifacts and replicas will follow including bows, arrows, animal traps, clothing and footwear, and models of watercraft such as bark canoe and dugout. Max: 30 people. Ages 8+. Cost: $4. Parking: $6 per vehicle.

Rockefeller State Park Preserve
Free fishing days allow residents and non-residents to fish without a freshwater fishing license or recreational marine fishing registration (kids under 16 can always fish for free!). It's the perfect opportunity to try out fishing for the first time, to get back into the sport, or to take a friend or the whole family along! Don't have fishing equipment? Roll & Stroll at Rockwood

Rockefeller State Park Preserve
Celebrate National Hiking Day with us and explore one of our favorite areas of the Preserve! The route will take us out-and-back along the Lower Trail at Rockwood Hall, with sweeping views of the Hudson River and scenic bridges passing over woodland streams. We'll traverse a total of 2.15 miles on relatively level terrain. Trails are 12-16 feet wide and surfaced with fine hard-packed gravel. Adaptive hiking equipment - two Mountain Trike chairs, the
eTrike and
ePush, as well as an
Oasis Pneumatic walker - may be reserved in advance, free of charge. For those bringing your own devices, standard wheelchairs will work as well, but hard rubber tires can lead to a bumpier ride. All-terrain devices or chairs with bicycle-type wheels are recommended. (Bicycles are not permitted.)Cost: FREE, registration required.

Join Rockwood docent, David Teich, on an adventure into the past as we explore the remains of Rockwood Hall and its rich history dating back to prehistoric times. Former estate of William A. Rockefeller Jr., this site boasts scenic views overlooking the Hudson, lush forests, and remnants of 19th century luxuries. The hike is about 2 miles roundtrip; leashed dogs are welcome. Max: 40 people. Cost: $4.
