The New York State Division for Historic Preservation offers a set of interconnected online tools for searching and submitting historic resource data. These applications support field data collection, research, environmental
review, historic recognition, tax credit programs, and other initiatives administered by the Division.
The Cultural Resource Information System (CRIS) is the Division's flagship online resource. You can use CRIS to do the following:
- Submit project documentation for federal (Section 106), state (Section 14.09), or SEQR environmental review
- Search for historic buildings, sites, and districts
- View historic resource inventory forms, National Register nominations, and survey reports
- Submit properties for an evaluation of eligibility or potential nomination to the National Register of Historic Places
The CRIS Trekker suite of applications builds upon CRIS to support the following expanded functions:
- For the General Public
- Submit new information about historic properties using a mobile device or computer
- For Historic Preservation Consultants
- Conduct field surveys of historic properties on a mobile device
- Assign and manage field survey team members
- Export field survey data to tables, lists, and reports
CRIS Mobile is a simplified web map version of CRIS that can be used to:
- View historic building, structure, and district locations
- Open historic resource inventory data
- Select a building record and launch CRIS Trekker's Survey123 app to submit updates
- Collect building records for a CRIS Trekker survey project
