Sunset Music Series: One Music International Ensemble
Sunday, September 21, 2025 04:00 PM - 05:00 PM
Caumsett State Historic Park Preserve
The mission of OneMusic Project is to keep the intimate experience of chamber music alive and vibrant, and to foster a wider and more engaged audience of chamber music enthusiasts. Our core tactic is the production of concerts by a highly select group of internationally distinguished artists from Europe and the USA. The musicians are committed to bringing fresh and unique interpretations through their collaborations. Many of the musicians are composers themselves, carrying on the traditions of another century to the present day. But we believe that celebrating this timeless art takes more than a single performance; it should be an ongoing conversation. To that end, OneMusic Project will present concerts alongside master classes, open-to-public rehearsals, and discussions by cultural thinkers, scholars and artists. We aim to recreate chamber music's original settings, and present a multi-dimensional approach to musical insight that enables our audience to engage with artists and scholars to more deeply appreciate the work. We know that our creative journey will be inspiring to our audience and the artists alike. Click here to register.

Join Laura Conner, Environmental Educator, to explore some of the less frequently visited sections of Minnewaska. We'll return along Upper Awosting Carriage Road until we reach Blueberry Run Footpath, which we'll follow to Lower Awosting Carriage Road, which is an easy stroll back to the parking area. This hike does include some tricky stream crossings and rock scrambles and is recommended for experienced and agile hikers. All participants must come prepared with the proper footwear, such as hiking boots, and enough food and water to sustain themselves. Meet at the Lower Parking Area. Sunset Music Series: 1989
Sunday, September 28, 2025 04:00 PM - 05:00 PM
Caumsett State Historic Park Preserve
Based in New York City, 1989 is the ultimate 80s tribute band. The band is comprised of professional musicians who, combined, have played literally thousands of shows coast to coast. 1989's core group is four musicians but, if your budget allows, we have a wide range of other musicians to draw upon to expand the act.Rather than don outlandish costumes, 1989 favors a slick new wave image. Our sound is true to the originals, but we apply a modern sensibility to the songs (similar to what Weezer did on their Teal Album) to make the songs even more accessible to modern audiences. There are so many great 80s tunes and only so many that can be played in one night. Accordingly, we favor creating slightly shorter versions of many tunes so that we can play more of the songs you know by heart during any one show. If you have any favorites you'd like to ensure are performed, we're happy to accommodate. Finally, we're not just an 80s band. Upon client request, we're happy to craft our performance to include pop/rock hits from the 50s through today. We also love to play holiday shows and have a wide range of holiday songs in our repertoire. Click here to register.

Beach Monitoring and Clean-up Walk
Saturday, November 8, 2025 10:00 AM - 12:00 PM
Hallock State Park Preserve
Start your weekend with a healthy walk along the Hallock State Park Preserve beach with the Atlantic Marine Conservation Society. Along the way, we watch for wildlife and pick up marine debris, so it does not harm local and migrating wildlife. Observations and debris collection are recorded for studies on marine conservation. Along the way, we will discuss current topics in marine conservation. In the Fall and early Winter months, we are especially on the lookout for cold stunned sea turtles that are in need of rescue and rehabilitation. Walking the beach is a great way to get exercise, fresh air, and reduce stress, while supporting local conservation efforts. As it is a Park volunteer activity, there is no charge and the seasonal parking fee is waived for registered participants. For more information, call the Park Office (631) 315-5475, or visit the AMCS website: www.amseas.org.
