Allegany State Park - Red House Area

Join Allegany State Park as we celebrate the 2023 Annular Solar Eclipse! This event takes place Saturday, October 14th at Camp Allegany located in the Red House area of Allegany State Park. This unique opportunity will prepare you for the excitement of the amazing 2024 total solar eclipse that occurs next year on April 8th, 2024.

Our fun event will be running the whole time, making it a walk-in-friendly environment. Enjoy an eclipse presentation, moon-themed cookie snacks, a pinhole viewer take-home craft, and the opportunity to witness the eclipse through our provided eclipse glasses. HOLIDAY TREE LIGHTING CEREMONY

Bayard Cutting Arboretum State Park
Everyone is welcome to participate in a sing-a-long of traditional holiday carols while awaiting the arrival of Santa Claus. Upon his arrival, Santa will light the tree for the 2023 holiday season. Hot beverages will be served outside after Santa lights the tree. All activities will take place outside so dress accordingly. The Manor House will not be open. In the spirit of giving, please bring canned goods or a new, unwrapped toy for those in need in our community.

GREAT JACK-O-LANTERN SAIL

Belmont Lake State Park
The Great Jack-O'-Lantern Sail will take place on Belmont at dusk. The first 50 carved pumpkins received are placed on flotation devices with battery operated lights inserted inside and sailed around the lake behind kayaks. Prior to the sail, there are children's activities including games, inflatables, funny photos and trick-or-treat stations. Families can walk through the ‘Spooky Den' and enjoy the displays created by our staff. If you would like to donate a carved pumpkin to the Sail, please email LIParksRecreation@parks.ny.gov.

HOLIDAY TREE LIGHTING CEREMONY

Join us for the annual lighting of the tree by Santa on the front lawn of the Headquarters Building in Babylon. There will be live holiday music and an ice sculptor, juggler, refreshments and fireworks. The public can also visit with Santa inside the lobby of the Headquarters Building.
